Wirt County, WV
ORDERS Construction built a new 600' long bridge over the Little Kanawha River near Elizabeth, WV. The structure incorporated two river piers supported on drilled caissons, with abutments on driven piling. Due to deep and wildly fluctuating water levels, barge-mounted cranes and equipment were used for both caisson construction and steel erection. Demolition of the existing structure was accomplished with explosives, and removal of the temporary bridge concluded the project.
